…Where is God?
…”But Stephen…looked up to heaven and saw…Jesus standing at the right hand of God.”Acts7:55
…We have all wondered, at times,
whether God is involved in what is happening. Christians are being persecuted, even slaughtered, by barbarians in our world. In our daily lives, everyone of us have faced situations where we have asked ourselves, “Where is God in this?”. Stephen was dying, being stoned by the religious barbarians of his day. I am sure that, as he felt the stones striking his body and heard the snap of his bones breaking, that he, too, for a brief instant, wondered where God was in his pain and impending death. Then he looked to heaven and saw Jesus “standing” by the Father. The Scripture says that Jesus sat down by the Father after the cross and His resurrection. Why does Stephen see Him standing? Jesus is standing to welcome Stephen home. Jesus was feeling every stone that Stephen felt, and He wanted Stephen to know that he was not alone. Jesus feels every slash of the Islamic sabers and the penetration of their bullets. He knows the pain of the cancer ridden body. Jesus is watching. He is involved. In fact, given what is happening in our world today, I believe that He is standing a lot right now for those who are His. If you are His, remember, He is involved, and, someday, He’ll rise to receive you, too.
